COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

During the time of this global pandemic, the measures you can read here have come into force and supersede the Ts&Cs below where relevant.  If you are unsure, please do get in touch and I will be happy to clarify for you.

I hope that these measures bring you reassurance in my service and that I can still help you during this difficult time. This advice may change in accordance with any updates from the government.

If you become ill following the hire of one of my carriers, please do let me know so that I can take appropriate action.


1. Loans through MyTurn

A. Your personal details will be kept in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and will only be used to contact you in relation to your loan.  The information we gather is kept on MyTurn and is used within Mailchimp to communicate with you.  Both are GDPR compliant systems.

2. Loan Cost and Duration

A. All carriers are lent subject to availability, condition and suitability.

B. The standard loan period is £7.50 for one week or £25 for four weeks.

C. At our discretion you may arrange to borrow a carrier for a longer period. This is usually dependent on whether there is a waiting list.

D. The replacement of any lost carriers, accessories or instructions will be owed by you. Charges for lost components will be equal to replacement cost (including any postage costs). Charges for items damaged beyond normal wear and tear will be judged on a case by case basis.

E. Carrier that are returned early will not receive a refund on hire fees.

3. Payment Methods

A. Hire costs are payable by card through MyTurn, BACS or gifted Paypal payment.

4. Postal Loans and Reservations

A. At our discretion you may be able to hire a carrier or carriers by post. For postal loans the standard loan period is for 2 weeks and loan fee and deposits are the same. An extra charge will be made to cover postage and packaging. You will need to register as a USER on MyTurn. Your card details are your deposit for hire and these are stored in MyTurn.

B. It is also possible to reserve a carrier if you are a member. If you make us aware of your desire to loan a carrier we will add you to the waiting list and give you an approximate waiting time. We will contact you when it is available and if you have changed your mind or we do not hear a response within 24 hours, we will move on with the list.

C. Postal loan and reservation services are made available entirely at the Library’s discretion and these facilities may be withdrawn at any time without notice.

5. Late Returns

A. If you return your carrier late we will charge £1 per day late fees for every day past the agreed returns due date until the date that you either return the carrier or pay to extend your hire including any fees incurred to that date.  If we have not heard from you after 7 days past your due date, you will be charged another hire period plus the late fees incurred.

B. It is often possible to renew your loan for additional weeks (unless the carrier has been reserved), with payment made through MyTurn.

C. Under adverse or unforseen circumstances we may reduce or waive fines for late returns as long as the late period is less than 7 days and has been fully agreed by us before the end of the loan period (this also allows for things like postage delays).

D. Persistent lateness with returns, rehires or late fees may result in you no longer being able to hire from the library.

E. If we do not hear from you within 30 days from the end of your loan, we will consider the carrier stolen and begin legal proceedings.

F. If you are unable to return your carrier by the agreed date due to Library staff illness or holidays, we will extend your loan period for free and agree a new returns due date with you.

6. Returning and Posting Carriers

A. Returns can be made at a Sling Meet following a prearranged agreement to attend or via the Drop Box at 23 Stone Close, Worthing, BN13 2AU. If this is not possible the carrier and instructions may be returned by post to arrive on or before the returns due date.

B. Contact to obtain the address for Carriers and instructions to be returned by post.

C. The carrier is returned by post at your own cost and risk (we advise that you use Recorded or Special Delivery and retain proof of postage). Please ensure you allow sufficient time for the carrier to arrive by its return due date.

D. Please ensure that the carrier, instructions and any accessories are packaged appropriately – we prefer that you ‘double–bag’ the carrier and write both addresses on both layers.

7. Condition of the Carrier

A. All carriers are checked before lending to ensure that they are in good condition and working order. The borrower may check the condition of the carrier prior to the start of the loan.

B. If a carrier is received by post, any breaks or flaws that prevent its use should immediately be reported to the Library on receipt of the carrier. In such cases the hire fee will be refunded in full on return of the carrier however postal fees cannot be refunded.

C. It is the borrower’s responsibility to check over the carrier before every use. Check all buckles, hems and seams ensuring that there are no tears, breaks, cracks or holes. If any damage is discovered, please stop using the carrier immediately and contact us.

8. Safe Use of Carriers


B. All carriers are provided with practical instructions for safe use. We will provide you with an online link to manufacturer’s instructions or to one of our own videos.

C. The borrower must read all safety, use and care instructions provided prior to using the carrier. Carriers must only be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, though where there is a choice we may recommend particular carrying methods or positions.

D. We suggest that after familiarising yourself with the instructions given you then practice using the carrier with a doll/teddy or cushion/pillow so that you get used to the tying/fastening/adjusting methods.

E. Always ensure that you seat your child correctly in the carrier and check any knots regularly as children do not stay still and straps and wrap passes can move or become loosened.

F. If you feel any pain while carrying your child, change the carrying position or remove the carrier. If you are unsure about anything you read in the instructions, are not sure what you’re doing or are at all concerned, please ask us. We can point you in the direction of lots of helpful sites to give you tips to make sure you’re getting the best out of the carrier and using it safely.

9. Care of Carriers

A. Under no circumstances is it permitted to smoke whilst wearing or holding the carrier. Please inform us if you are a smoker, or if there is a smoker in your home as we will need to carefully launder the carrier after it is returned. Smoking is known to increase the risk of cot death for babies, and these risks have also been linked to babies being in close contact with clothing or objects contaminated with smoke particles.

B. We cannot guarantee that there are no marks on the carriers we lend. Carriers are spot–cleaned regularly and/or laundered as appropriate when the lending schedule allows. If you would prefer to use a freshly laundered carrier please request this before you borrow. Please return your borrowed carrier in clean condition.

C. For soft carriers (wraps, slings and tie on styles) please spot clean any marks and more soil–prone areas (e.g. on straps and top edges) when they occur using liquid detergent/washing up liquid and water. If necessary wash the carrier before returning it using liquid detergent (such as Ecover) and washing cycle suitable for delicates. Protect rings by putting a sock or similar over them, held on with an elastic band.

D. For soft structured carriers, framed carriers and anything with significant padding, structural elements or buckles please avoid putting in the washing machine. Do spot clean any marks when they occur using washing up liquid or liquid detergent and water, and ensure that straps and areas where baby may suck or chew the carrier are clean before returning.  In extreme circumstances where the carrier can only be washed in a machine, please do so in a pillow case to reduce risk of damage to the carrier.

E. We cannot guarantee that there are no animal hairs on our carriers, but we ask that all carriers are kept away from pets to minimise this possibility. If you are very allergic to animal hairs, please request that the carrier be laundered before you borrow it to help reduce any potential reaction. Slings are kept in a home with cats.

F. Food and posset marks are expected when carrying children, but please keep the sling away from anything that may stain more permanently (oil, paint, pens, etc.), or anything that might damage it (scissors, Velcro, keys in your bag, fire, etc.). The cost of damage beyond normal wear and tear may be removed from your deposit.

10. Ownership

A. All slings, carriers, instructions and accessories remain the property of Lysanne Skinner and MotherRucker Carrying Consultancy at all times, and all loans are subject to availability and our discretion.

Subscription Charges

£15 per month payable either via PayPal or by automatic card payment.

We reserve the right to increase prices as needed, with at least two weeks notice.

There is no minimum and no maximum length of time for your subscription.  If you cancel your subscription, any slings you have in your possession must be returned immediately.  Any consultations or workshops you have booked with your subscription but take place after your cancellation will be subject to the full price. If, for any reason, your payment fails we will contact you for new details to maintain your subscription.  If we have not heard from you for 7 days we will assume your subscription has been cancelled intentionally.

Identity Checks

We require one proof of current address. You must inform us if you change address and bring proof of this in order for our records to be updated.

Loss or Damage

You will be liable to cover any costs occurred if the sling is lost or damaged beyond normal wear and tear and the damages will be claimed through the small claims court if necessary.  If we do not hear from you after 30 days from the start of your loan we will consider the sling lost, file a claim for the total costs of the sling plus any outstanding late fees and cancel your subscription.

Use of Subscription

The subscription is for your own personal use. It can only be used by the person who took it out. If you loan your subscription to anyone then it will be terminated without warning and without refund. Persistent lateness with returns, rehires or late fees may result in your subscription being revoked with no refund given. You must come to Sling Clinic every 3 months so we can check the integrity of your carrier for insurance purposes and ensure it still fits you and your child safely.



If items are in stock you may choose to collect them either from a drop in or from HQ at a mutually convenient time.


We hope that you will love your purchase from MotherRucker Carrying Consultancy, but we understand that you may wish to return your item(s).

If you wish to return an item that you have purchased online, please inform us via email at within 14 days of receiving your order. We must then receive the item(s) within the next 14 days.

We can only accept returned items that are unused and in their original as new condition. Items must be in their original intact packaging, with all tags, labels and instruction manuals undamaged. We cannot refund items that have been worn or washed. Returned items must be in fully re-saleable condition.

We do not accept returns for item purchases when you have already seen the item in person, such as (but not limited to) at a Consultation or workshop.

Once we have received the returned item, we will send you a full refund for the purchase price of the item(s) within 14 days of receiving the item(s) back. We will refund to the credit/debit card or PayPal account that you used for the original purchase.

1:1 and 1:2 Consultations

All consultations require a non-refundable 50% deposit to secure the booking.  Consultations booked and confirmed are subject to our 24 hour cancellation policy.  If you cancel your consultation with less than 24 hour’s notice you will surrender your 50% deposit.  If you have already fully paid, 50% will be refunded back to you.  If you or your child are ill, or unable to attend I will always seek to reschedule for a mutually convenient time.


All workshops require full payment in advance to secure your place.  Workshops booked and confirmed are subject to our 24 hour cancellation policy.  If you cancel your workshop with less than 24 hours notice or fail to attend you will surrender your payment.  If you or your child are ill, or unable to attend I will always offer a place on our next workshop (subject to availability).  

Free Stretchy Wrap Hire Scheme

Initial Hire

Baby must be 6 weeks old or under at time of initial hire.

Initial hire period is for 4 weeks only.

End of Hire Period

At the end of your hire period you have three options:

1. Return your stretchy wrap

2. Continue hiring your stretchy for £7.50 a week

3. Pay £25 for a brand new stretchy wrap we have in stock from Calin Bleu Slings.

Non-Returns and Late Fees

All Ts&Cs from usual Hire conditions apply including action taken for non returns and late fees.

Purchase of Stretchy Wraps

Returns policy for items from the shop still apply if you choose to purchase a stretchy wrap.


Inline with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) enforceable within all businesses as of the 25th May 2018.

I would like to reassure all my customers that only information pertaining to their hire relevant to my insurance will be kept. The information required will be name, address, email address, phone number, any medical conditions that may affect your or baby whilst wearing, and your child’s date of birth.  This information will be used to contact you with regards to your hires of our carriers, and for tax and insurance purposes only.

With regards to purchases from our online shop, information required is Name, Address and Email address so that I may fulfil your order.  This information will be used to contact you with regards to your order and for tax purposes.

No information is passed onto any third parties. You will not receive unsolicited emails or messages from Worthing Sling Library.  For all new up to date information, about new products, or discounts etc you will need to sign up to our Newsletter, or check out our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Your information will be held securely on PayPal, Facebook Messages, and Google Drive using MailChimp to message you.  Card details are held by iZettle, bank details are never stored and payments made via Paypal are GDPR compliant. We are a paperless business and all your information is stored electronically on Google Drive which is only accessible by me via password or fingerprint ID.

If you would like me to delete your information, or are unhappy with me using your information in this way before you hire or purcahse from our shop, then sadly I will be unable to hire or sell you a carrier.

In line with tax and accountancy guidelines, all data will be destroyed after 7 years.
